[TUTORIAL] How to watermark your graphics(in GIMP)
NOTE** As stated in the title, this is for GIMPWell, I got kinda tired of seeing people not watermarking their work effectively, thus resulting in someone stealing their work and using it w/o the creators permission.
Now, most people know how to make a watermark, and some, well all they do it just throw some text on their image and leave it be; and that works just fine, but I kinda like the transparent/grey look. So for the people who don't know I will show you how to make one. It won't be perfect, but it is better than nothing.
1. Start up GIMP and open your image.

2. Select the layer menu from the top and click new layer. Make the new layer white. It should fill in the dimensions automatically.

3. You should go ahead and unselect your actual image by clicking the little eye next to it on the layers menu.

4. Now go ahead and select the text tool and type in something on it. You can use any color really, I normally just go with black.

5. Depending on how light you want it here you can change the contrast of it. It wont have any affect right now! I just got into the habit of doing it. It will however have an effect if you do it later on, I will say when.

6. Here I like to turn it just to occupy more of the image.

7. Now, you click Filters at the top and go down to Distort, then Emboss.
You can choose to emboss it however you want.

NOTE** Here you can go back to step 5.8. Now go over to the Layers list and hide the white one and unhide your image.

9. Now save it as something different than the original file, just to make sure you don't accidentally overwrite the original and the image becomes lost to you and the world.

Voila, it is not perfect, but it is watermarked.,,,,,. ENJOY..!!
